Write Wild Club.
Welcome to Write Wild, an imaginative weekly writing club where new and growing writers can explore the vast terrains of storytelling, poetry, and beyond in the great outdoors.
Description
Write Wild is made for students aged 6 to teens, guiding them through the growth stages of writing, from sprouting ideas to flourishing stories. Our unique creative writing program is divided into five levels, each symbolizing a stage in the growth of a sequoia tree. At each level, students will delve deeper into the craft of writing, learning to weave their thoughts and dreams into vivid narratives and expressive poetry.
All classes are outdoors in a community space, unless otherwise stated in the schedule below.

To accommodate the needs of our families, we offer two convenient tuition options:
Pay-Per-Class: Ideal for those who prefer flexibility or wish to attend occasionally. Each class is priced at $25. This option gives you the flexibility to pay as you go, selecting classes that fit your schedule.
Classpass Option: Our Classpass Option is designed for families seeking both value and flexibility. By choosing this option, you'll receive a pass for 5 classes at a discounted rate of $100.
Classpass allows you to freely select the class days that are most convenient for you, without the need to always attend consecutively, especially during the summer months.
Monthly Membership: Ideal for avid writers. This $215 monthly membership combines Classpass with discounted access to the Online Writing Center so that writers can receive feedback during and between classes.

Please bring the following to every club meeting:
• Notebook (blank or lined)

For certain levels or specific activities, we may suggest additional materials such as colored pencils or access to a computer for typing, but we'll always communicate these needs well in advance.
-
For their end-of-year projects, we encourage RAWR students to submit their writing piece for publication. Publication is not required. We want our students to enjoy the process—the journey of writing and publishing—more than the product.
With that said, we’re excited about publishing a printed anthology of our students’ writings! We’ll be self-publishing the anthology via print-on-demand with an expected release date of Winter 2024. Each student can pick up their complimentary printed copy at the Samantha B. Literary office once they’re available or during the RAWR Book Party event.

Questions & Answers
-
Write Wild is ongoing and more child-led. It introduces children to different ways to "play" with writing so that they discover their style and voice as they are introduced to various forms and genres. Courses (like Walk with Poetry) are more instruction-focused and dive deeper into specific forms.

Unfortunately, no. We are not yet a vendor at a local charter school. Email us what charter school you are a part of, and we will work on becoming an approved vendor.
Currently, we are in the process of becoming vendors for Cabrillo Point Academy and Suncoast for the 2023-2024 school year. Please also suggest us a vendor to your charter school.
-
Absolutely! We understand the importance of finding the right fit for your child's creative journey. We offer a trial session where your child can experience a Write Wild class, meet our writing mentors, and engage with fellow young writers. This session is a great opportunity to see how our program ignites the passion for writing and storytelling in children.
-
Absolutely, the Write Wild program is designed to embrace young writers at every stage of their literacy journey, including those just beginning to explore the world of letters and words.
Our Level 1: Seeds of Stories is tailored specifically for children who are still learning to read and spell. This level focuses on nurturing a love for storytelling through interactive read-alouds, engaging in storytelling games, and fun writing activities that do not require advanced reading skills.
We believe that every child has a unique voice and a wealth of stories to share, and we're here to support their creative expression, helping them grow their skills at their own pace in a warm, supportive environment.
-
We understand that schedules can be unpredictable. If your child misses a class, you will receive a make-up credit to use for another class (of the same level).
-
All outdoor classes are currently local to Irvine, Tustin, and Lake Forest. To ensure the safety of our students, we provide specific locations to registered families only.
-
We call our instructors writing mentors, maintain a low student-to-mentor ratio to ensure personalized attention and an intimate learning environment. Currently, our classes have one writing mentor for every 5 students. This ratio allows us to provide individual feedback, tailor lessons to the group's needs, and foster a supportive community among our young writers.
-
For most classes, your child will need a notebook or paper, writing utensils (pens, pencils), and their imagination!
For certain levels or specific activities, we may suggest additional materials such as colored pencils or access to a computer for typing, but we'll always communicate these needs well in advance.
-
Yes, our program is designed to be flexible and to accommodate the varying paces at which children develop their writing skills. If a mentor feels a student is ready to move up a level based on their demonstrated abilities and progress, we will discuss this option with the parents and the student to ensure it's in the best interest of the child's learning experience.
-
Absolutely! Personalized feedback is a cornerstone of the Write Wild program. Our writing mentors provide constructive and encouraging feedback on writing assignments and projects, highlighting strengths and offering suggestions for improvement. This one-on-one attention ensures that each child understands how to grow as a writer and feels supported throughout their learning process.

In case of bad weather or high temperatures, we will meet online via Zoom.
